There is a real stereotype that surrounds people who take body building seriously. This stereotype tells us that body builders are individuals who purposefully grow their muscles to obscene sizes, rub oil all over themselves and then put on showcases in which they demonstrate their ability to lift hundreds and hundreds of pounds at once. This stereotype is not completely wrong. There are actually some men and women who have that approach to body building. Some body builders go the professional route and are paid enough to earn a living just to build up their muscles to crazy sizes. Obviously that is not the only approach for body building. The most important reason for your body building efforts should be that you want to get healthy. Body building is a fantastic form of exercise. If you are new to body building, here is the approach you should take.
No bodybuilding workout is complete without a healthy and balanced diet backing it up. When you think about it, this means that body building is just like all of the other forms of exercise. Balanced and nutritious meals are one of the building blocks of health. Junk food doesn’t cut it if you need a snack: choose fruit, veggies or whole grains instead. Foods to avoid will have ingredients like high fructose corn syrup (or high chemical and synthetic compound counts). These things work against your body. You need to eat a balanced and healthy diet if you are going to ensure that your muscles get all of the nutrients they need while you work them out and heal them up.

Stress can contribute to chronic disease. When the body is stressed, it can wreak havoc on the immune, nervous and inflammatory pathways in the body. Optimizing normal adrenal gland function is essential to overall health and longevity. Adrenal Health provides a gentle, sustainable source of nutrition for the adrenal glands, enabling the body to adapt to stress in a healthy way.
Body building relies quite a bit upon proper protein intake. You need to get enough protein because that is what helps your muscles build up stronger after a body building workout. Many body builders will put protein powder in their foods to ensure that they are taking in all of the protein that they need. As a new body builder this type of thing isn’t your concern just yet. Eating a well balanced diet should be enough when you first start out. If you get very into body building and you start to increase the frequency of your workouts (or if you start to increase the intensity of your workouts) you might think about increasing the amount of protein you take in to help keep your muscles’ needs met. Ask your doctor which type of protein powder is best.
The basic exercises that body builders do include (but are not limited to) squats, leg curls, lunges, leg presses, dumbbell raises, leg extensions, laterals, dips, flyes, ez-bar curls, pull ups, incline crunches, hanging leg raises and the “regular” cardiovascular exercises like swimming, biking and running. Make sure that you know how to do all of these different types of exercises and don’t attempt them by yourself. You should always have a spotter when you are lifting, especially during the days when you are working on building up your strength for new weight limits. Lifting without having someone to spot you is dangerous because you won’t have anybody to help you if the lift you are doing becomes to hard for you to do by yourself.
Anybody can do body building. It is a great way to focus on getting healthy and getting in shape. There are some who enjoy body building so much that they have turned it into a job! You don’t have to have that much passion for it but if you keep going you might find that you enjoy the way it makes your body feel and how you look. If you set reachable goals and use your common sense you should be able to greatly improve your health with body building!
