Very well respected Stanford University has drawn a conclusion on which of four popular diets is the most effective for losing weight with no adverse health effects.
The four diets…
1. standard low-fat, reduced-calorie regimen
2. the Zone, a reduced-carbohydrate approach
3. the very low-fat, high-carbohydrate regimen
4. the Atkins Diet
The winner – the high-protein Atkins Diet.
Women who followed the Atkins Diet:
1. significant drop in triglycerides,
2. experienced the largest increase in high-density lipoprotein (HDL),
3. id not develop the soaring levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL)
The Harvard School of Public Health pitched in a significant vote of confidence calling the Stanford study, “the best study so far to compare popular diets.”
University of Cincinnati chips in, “‘The findings “are pretty much in line with what all the other studies have shown comparing Atkins and low-fat diets.’”
